Today the annual Jet Skiing competition took place at the Starfish Beach. Like each year, this one was spectacular as well. Although, one thing surprised all of us. The winner of the competition is Lorelai Dane (22). Everyone was in awe of her accomplishment today. Babette Geller (24) came in second and Emily St. James (21) proudly took 3rdplace in the competition. Nonetheless, it was a nail-biting game that will be remembered for a long time.

All year long the good citizens of Womanian look forward to this traditional event. The first edition was back in 1970 organized by the historical figure, Trixie Gardener. She was a great athlete who introduced us to some wonderful watersports, such as aqua jogging, water volleyball, rowing and so much more. However, she excelled in one particular sport, namely jet skiing. She effortlessly won every year until the day she died. As founder of the competition, we include a moment of silence to honor her each year.

Today every Woma cleared up their schedule to either participate or cheer from the beach. At 8 am our dictator Blair Looper officially initiated the 50th edition while whishing the participants good luck. After that, the jet skies were thoroughly checked for the last time with at the end a test run. Once every jet ski was approved, the first few rounds began. It was immediately clear which participants were going to make the finals. At midday local restaurants prepared all kinds food and young music artists who led each and every one onto the dancefloor with a funky beat. After food, chatter and dancing the competition resumed. Lorelai, Babette and Emily beat every single one out the game until they were the only ones left. You could feel the tension rise over the entire beach. The past 4 years Babette had won the competition. But this time she had a ruthless competitor who was determined to go home with a golden medallion. The final round began slowly and steady, but the last 30 seconds decided on the fate of the finalists. Lorelai accelerated at warp speed and reached the finish line first. Nobody saw it coming. However, it will never be forgotten.

Lorelai Danes won on her own merits. She deserved the golden medallion that was given to her at the ceremony this evening. She has been jet skiing since she was 5 years old, but never entered our annual competition. It is an understatement to say that she has a natural talent for this sport. Before today she considered jet skiing a hobby, something she did in her spare time. Her father taught her to jet ski and always believed that she was the best there has ever been in Womanian. A few weeks prior to the event, her father passed away due to a drug overdose. Lorelai was devastated and a little lost. Fortunately, she saw the silver lining in the tragic event. The next day she took matters into her own hands and started practicing for today’s competition. She dedicated her victory to her dad. Congratulations Lorelai Danes!

The eventful evening ended in a spectacular set of fireworks. A perfect ending to a perfect day. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition on Friday the 12th of November 2021 on the Starfish Beach. Can we expect another suspenseful race? We will have to wait and see.
